Macbook / Apple / iDevice No Longer Connects to VPN ( to school, work or from a particular hotspot)

If you find you no longer can connect to your work, school or from a particular Hotspot it could be due to you upgrading to Apple's iOS version 10.X or greater... or because you simply purchased a new Apple device.

Apple's operating system (iOS) as of iOS 10 now no longer supports PPTP vpn type connections. More on this from Apple directly...

Consequently, the remote hotspot (network) from where you are trying to connect may no longer have the port (door) opened that allows PPTP traffic. After all, why keep a port open that's no longer needed on your network?

Apple switched for good reason... the PPTP protocol is now considered more vulnerable from a network security perspective than several other current VPN alternatives. In many cases, it's been causing headaches for Network Administrators who should have migrated from its use by now. Perhaps it's due to the bubble I leave in, but it sure seems like there was not much lead time (notice) regarding warnings for the impending change.

Can't (or no longer can) Connect via VPN to Work, School or whatever

If you find you no longer can connect to your work, school or from a particular Hotspot it could be due to them (the network) no longer has the port (door) opened that allows the type of vpn traffic your device is using in its attempt to connect. As it relates to this post, I'm more specifically referring to connections that use the PPTP vpn protocol (Windows, Mac... etc). The PPTP protocol is now considered more vulnerable from a network security perspective than several other current VPN alternatives. In many cases, it's been causing headaches for Network Administrators who should have migrated from its use by now. Perhaps it's due to the particular bubble I leave in, but it sure seems like there was not much lead time (notice) regarding the impending switch... weeks maybe? How to Restore / Import a Garageband file from iCloud

After long since completing a song I composed in Garageband that I imported into Pro Tools 12, I realized I wanted to add an additional track to the version that was once on my iPad. The problem... it was on an iPad I now had since restored from its former jailbroken state.
